  • Bin Chen  - Episode 026: Don't Use Email

according to PMBOK, the email is a method on informal and non-verbal communication. usually it's a good way to distribute the project information with manageable name list, also well tracking and grouping.
but it's limited on the environment of network and authority, the email is still not committed by legal effectiveness and credibility, it could be a assistance to support the project communication works. the key is to define well on the tools ( not forbid the using on it.

My take away from this episode is although email communication is sometimes quicker and assured that information will reach the person(s), in cases where PMs have the opportunity to meet face-to-face with others on their team or stakeholders, you will find that not only will you gain respect from others but it shows that you have interpersonal skills and you are not just a PM driving projects from behind a laptop.
