How to Save a Copy of the Spreadsheet

You are granted readonly access to this online Google spreadsheet. To save a copy for yourself, please follow these simple steps:

  • Open the spreadsheet
  • Select File > Download as...
  • Select where you would like to save the file on your PC and give it a name

How to Claim PDUs Overview

Certified project managers will find this spreadsheet useful because it includes information about how many PDUs you can earn in each Talent Triangle skill area for listening to each episode. You can see this information in the columns on the far right, and the columns even use the same background color as you will see in the online PDU claim form.

Please note that we follow the "hard mathematical rule" in assigning PDU values... if an episode is just one second short (i.e. 29min 59seconds), then you can only claim 0.25 PDUs and not 0.50 PDUs.

Please visit our PDU Page for all the details about claiming PDUs from The PM Podcast:

The PM Podcast is NOT for the Project Management Professional (PMP)® Exam

Not for PMP® Exam Prep

Project Management Professional (PMP)® Exam

The PM Podcast is NOT for the PMP Exam

Please note that you cannot use The PM Podcast as a course to earn your 35 Contact Hours for the PMP® Exam. Here is why:
  • The PM Podcast is not designed for PMP exam preparation. While some of the topics we discuss on the podcast are topics that may be beneficial for exam preparation, the podcast itself is not created as an exam study tool. It does not follow a curriculum and it is not created based upon best practices in course design. It is "just" a free podcast about project management. Albeit a very good one.
  • The Project Management Institute (PMI)® requires that in order for a distance learning course to be valid for PMP exam preparation, the course must include an "end-of-course assessment". The PM Podcast does not offer such an assessment and you cannot obtain a "certificate of completion" from us.

If you are looking for a distance-learning course to help you prepare for The PMP Exam, then we recommend The PM PrepCast. This course was developed by us and follows all PMI quality requirements for PMP Exam prep courses.

PMI's PDU Secrets

PDUs for Project Management Institute (PMI)® Renewal

The "Secret" Video

In this video we go through all the details of how to best earn your PDUs:
Also visit our main page for Professional Development Units to learn all there is about earning PDUs using podcasts.

The "Secret" Overview

PMI® certifications are not for life.

Instead, once you pass the exam you are required to go through recertification every three years. The good news is that you don’t have to take the exam again. Instead, you have to earn Professional Development Units (PDUs) in project management during this time. Then the cycle begins anew.

This video looks in detail at what PDUs are, how they are structured, discusses the Talent Triangle and gives you recommendations on where to learn more about PDUs, how to earn PDUs not only from Premium Podcasts but from normal learning activities that we project managers participate in regularly.

It's all much simpler than you think and this guide breaks it down for you.
